减速器中齿轮副或蜗轮副的齿面承受压力较大,并且有较高的相对滑动速度,因此合理地润滑非常重要。当润滑方式和润滑油选择不当时,都会使减速器产生过热现象。但搅拌润滑油所造成的功率消耗及过之热问题往往被人们忽视,在闭式浸油润滑的减速器中注油过多。特别是在减速器箱壁上无油标的情况下,注入数量往往超出标准。有人误认为加油越多越好,结果事与愿违,既增加了摩擦力矩又使油温升高。润滑油在高温高压下稀释,使齿轮或蜗轮啮合处的油膜被破坏而加剧摩擦。
