从2004年7月开始截止到9月底,美国已经陆续部署了5枚陆基拦截导弹(题图是部署的第4枚拦截弹正在吊装,10月中旬在阿拉斯加再部署1枚,另有2枚也计划于2004年晚些时候部署在加利福尼亚州范登堡空军基地)。这是美国导弹防御系统实际部署的第一年。虽然该系统目前尚不成熟,但从其由来和构成看,它具有划时代的意义,而且随着技术发展和进一步的部署,必将对全球战略力量对比产生重大影响。
