Waltzing Matilda is a folk ballad poem written by the famous Australian poet AB Patterson (Banjo’Paterson, 1864-1941). From the late 19th century to the present day, it has been Australia’s most popular poem, and most Australians Like to sing a song, some people even suggested it as a national anthem. This poem speaks of a poor wanderer picking a lamb by the curb and stuffing it in a bag. The sheep’s owner and police found him chasing after the discovery. Finally, the wanderer jumped into the pond, unluckily flooded Death, after death every night in the pool near can hear his ghost cry. Psalms are full of sympathy for the lower classes and the awareness of resistance to authority. People think this is part of the Australian nationality. It is not hard to see why this poem was still sung by people for centuries.
