许昌是汉魏故都,旅游资源丰富,遗迹众多,2004年被评为全国优秀旅游城市;许昌烤烟生产历史悠久,素有“烟叶王国之称”;禹州钧瓷驰名中外,被誉为国之“瑰宝”。新世纪许昌市坚持以科学发展观统领经济社会发展全局,实施经营城市战略,用抓工业的理念抓农业,毫不动摇鼓励、支持、引导非公有制经济,实现了跨越式发展。非公有制企业创造了6个全国之最,最大的发制品加工基地、最大的金刚石生产基地、最大的童鞋加工基地、最大的豆制品加工基地、最大的棉短绒加工基地、最大的花卉苗木基地。许昌是全国首批、河南惟一的国家农业科技园区。
