河南省南召县皇后乡天桥村481户,栽种辛夷树22万多棵,现已挂果的有8万多棵,1989年仅辛夷一项全村收入21万多元。当天桥村人们采摘到丰硕的辛夷果实,将大把钞票换到手的时候,便会自然地想起当初为发展辛夷树而沥尽心血的创始人——基干民兵张振兴。天桥村,重峦叠嶂,交通闭塞,是个有名的穷村子。到1983年,全村人均收入不到100元。农民锅中缺粮,手里缺钱,一直过着吃国家粮款的苦日子。
