砧木选择为获得理想的嫁接苗,一般以2年生的蜡梅实生苗为砧,野生的柳叶蜡梅作砧木成活率不高。砧木粗度在0.5—1.0厘米之间,以手指粗为宜,嫁接部位要通直光滑,以便于操作时砧穗切面的藕合。若为粗大古拙的蜡梅桩换冠嫁接,亦应选择粗壮的一年生枝条。
