The use of velocity analysis programs in seismic prospecting has increased so that, in addition to being used directly for kinematic correction, it is possible to study the variation of average velocity with time and distance. In general, it is even possible to calculate layer velocities very accurately. Our intention is to use these velocities to convert a generic time profile from the time domain to the depth domain. Correct conversion needs to know all the layer velocity and velocity interfaces. However, when the inclination is not large, this conversion may not take into account the inclination of these interfaces and in some cases may even be completely offset correction. This article describes three different programs and discusses the various issues in the application. Also provides a variety of examples of the application.
