Founded in 1984, Tianjin Economic Development Zone is one of the first 14 state-level development zones along the coast approved by the state. As of the first half of 1994, TEDA has accumulated a total of 22.5 square kilometers of land for development, absorbing 3.35 billion U.S. dollars from more than 50 countries and regions and 2024 foreign-funded enterprises (including 240 Taiwan-funded companies with a total investment of 400 million U.S. dollars) 73 large-scale projects with investment above 10 million U.S. dollars and 4 projects exceeding 100 million U.S. dollars.
