Water Solanum torvum Swartz is a small shrub widely distributed in Thailand and its fruit is edible. The authors obtained three polar components, torvanol A (1), torvoside A (2) and H (3) from the methanol extract of the fruit of the plant and studied their biological activity. The fresh watercress was crushed and soaked in methanol at room temperature for 2 days. After evaporation of the solvent, the extract was dissolved in 70% methanol.
