[World Nuclear News website September 21, 2015] On September 21, 2015, Osborne, the UK chancellor of the exchequer, announced that it will provide up to £ 2 billion ($ 3 billion) in guarantees for the proposed Hinkley Point C nuclear power project . The project is the first nuclear power project in the UK in nearly two decades and plans to build two European pressurized water reactor (EPR) units. This guarantee will pave the way for China to invest in the British nuclear industry.
