In the last two decades, the need for high-performance composites has been growing. The three major types of composites developed in the last decade are polymer matrix composites, metal matrix composites and ceramic matrix composites. Today’s polymer matrix composites are reinforced with glass fibers, carbon (graphite) fibers, boron fibers, and silicon carbide fibers.
