党的十一届五中全会胜利地完成了它的主要议题,即坚持党的领导,改善党的领导,提高党的战斗力。这就使得社会主义现代化建设有了最重要的保证。一系列长治久安、高瞻远瞩的重大决策,正在鼓舞着全党同志和全国人民更加信心百倍地奋勇前进。进一步地发挥党报作为党的喉舌的作用,宣传好五中全会的精神,始终把经济宣传作为报纸宣传的突出的内容,使全党同志和全国人民更紧密地团结在党中央的周围,为实现社会主义现代化的宏伟目标而奋斗,这是我们新闻工作者所面临的新的任务,也是我们新闻工作者的共同志向。党报,是党的喉舌。正如喉舌要传达大脑的意志,党报必须传达党中央的意志,听从党中央的指挥。一九四二年延安《解放日报》社论中就提出党与党报的问题,指出:“报纸是党的喉舌,是这一个巨大集体的喉舌。在党报工作的同志,只是整个党的组织的一部分。一切要依照党的意志办事,一言一动一字一句,都要顾到党的影响。”时至今日,这段话仍然是完全正确、应当坚持的。
