Reversible temper brittleness, characterized by grain boundary fracture, is one of the major problems with structural steels. In this paper, the role of rare earth in the temper embrittlement of two high phosphorus and low alloy steels was studied. The test steel is smelted by a high-frequency induction furnace, and the mixed rare earth metal is put into a furnace about 1 min before it is released, and the rare earth is added in an amount of 0.1%.
