Objective: To compare the similarities and differences between the “Essential Medicine List” in China and the “Essential Drugs List” of the World Health Organization (WHO) to promote the readjustment of the “Essential Drug List” in our country. Methods: To compare the background, classification system and the amount of drugs collected from the “Essential Drugs Inventory” of our country with the “Essential Drugs Inventory” of WHO, and to analyze the relationship and differences between the two. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The “Essential Medicine List” in China is based on the WHO “Essential Drugs List” and has the same origin, but there are some differences in classification system, quantity and content.
