花生、玉米间作,既有利用地力、肥力、光能、空间的一面,但也存在着争地、争肥、特别是争光的矛盾,这个矛盾的表现是比较普遍和一致的,只是在不同条件和情况下有所差异。同时,调节玉米的间种日期,选用耐阴的早中熟花生良种,对提高间作效果,缩小间作的影响,适时衔接下季茬口,都具有很大益处。
