钾是重要的植物养分,近二十多年来,很多国家甚为重视土壤钾素的研究和钾肥在农业上的应用。国际钾肥研究所自1955年成立以来的年会活动,大体反映了钾素研究的水平和动态。现在,关于土壤钾素的形态和转化规律、钾的有效性及其评定方法、钾的植物营养机理、影响钾肥效果的因素以及农业集约化条件下的钾素平衡等方面的研究,均取得了较大的进展,但仍有不少有待深入研究解决的问题。由于篇幅所限,现仅就部分结果作一归纳,以供参考。
