像生器是竹雕工艺的一个重要品种,也是明清竹雕创作的重要组成部分。仿天然物如花果、鸟兽、昆虫、人物等制作的单体或组合的工艺品,因其形态逼真,故称为像生器。以竹子为材质,或者以竹子为主要材质制作加工的像生器,在我国已有相当长的历史。以文献为证,至少在明代中期,其就已经发展得相当成熟,并涌现出以嘉定朱缨为代表的一批知名竹刻大家。而竹雕像生器主要用竹子
