疫病对我市西瓜生产威胁很大,在结瓜初期死苗达35%,严重时无收。 1983年采用嫁接换根连续三年重复试种,发现连作土内未发生疫病死苗,而且植株生长茂盛,蔓叶粗壮肥大,单瓜重量提高50%以上。比在同样栽培条件的未经嫁接、不连作的同品种西瓜产量提高107.9%。经品质鉴定,同未嫁接的西瓜风味基本一致。西瓜嫁接换根,砧木具有强大的根群系统,有抗高温、抗病的生理特点并且亲和力强。试种结果,瓠瓜砧木嫁接的西瓜苗成活
