Rapid urbanization and industrialization lead to the increasing water pollution in our country, and the health risk assessment of water resources has become the focus of public attention. Taihu Lake is the third largest freshwater lake in eastern China and an important source of drinking water for the residents of Wuxi. In Taihu Lake water, many organic pollutants, including PAHs and organochlorine pesticides, can be detected. These pollutants can have many adverse effects on human health, such as hepatotoxicity, nephrotoxicity and even cancer. “Omics” technologies such as transcriptomics and genomics are increasingly used to detect the collective effects of environmental pollution and to identify early exposed biomarkers
