The earliest Khmer monument found so far in Cambodia is inscribed in 611 and the earliest Sankan inscription is two years behind it. From the 7th century onwards, some inscriptions engraved in two languages appear to confirm their age and show us the images of Cambodian society. This picture is different from what we have seen from Chinese sources because these inscriptions represent religious content rather than secular life.
