武汉六中是一所百年老校,有着“求实、严谨、勤朴、忠毅”的优良办学传统。早在70年代末,六中就把课堂教学改革作为学校发展的突破口,率先提出“变讲堂为学堂”的教育主张,主张把学生放在教学主体地位,把教师置于主导地位,推动了学校教学改革发展,当时在省市乃至全国都产生了良好的影响。进入90年代以后,我国教育改革不断深化。武汉六中认真学习,统一认识,不断总结,勇于实践,把实施素质教育作为重要研究课题,明确提出“不拘一格用人才、不拘一格育人才”,用改革促进发展,逐步建立起以人为本、育人为本的素质教育新体系。
