素材的获取、积累、总括、提炼、升华,历来是文学、艺术创作必不可少的环节,也为一般纪录片创作及意义生产所不可缺少。纪录片既需要有来自实际生活现场且携带一定基本含义的素材,也需要缝合素材含义的有效构建来加强作品意义表达及传播。排除虚假拍摄,纪录片声像素材自身不仅可以具有一定基本含义,也可以在内容相对完整的情况下具有一定的影像论证性或作为某种证据的效力,不然,它就难以被称之为纪录片。
