精神文明心理学的学科体系是植根于生物心理学、物理心理学、社会学、社会心理学、人类学等母系学科土壤中的。精神文明心理学是应时代需要而产生，为社会倡明服务的。社会个体之间、群体之间、群体与个体之间相互联系、相互影响所表现出来的文明程度、进步的精神状态以及在这个过程中所展示出来的心理活动规律是精神文明心理学主要研究对象。精神文明心理学的研究原则、研究方法，不可能不借鉴母系学科的研究方法，但是，精神文明心理学也有自己独到的研究方法，诸如相关调查法、典型个案分析法等。独到的研究方法是由学科的性质决定的。
