黛螺顶就是乾隆皇帝“小朝台”的地方,位于台怀寺庙集群区之东(300米)的一个小山峰,垂直高度约400米,依偎在东台一脉而下的碧山秀屏之中,其峰兀然突出,远观近视,形如大螺(大海螺),故名大螺顶。每到春夏,满山披绿着青,阴翠欲滴,尖尖峰顶,郁郁吐黛,故又名黛螺顶。黛螺顶峦回谷抱,时有浓雾白云于山间生出,飘游流动之时,沾绿惹翠,其依依秀色,袅娜风韵,简直像一位蓄思含情的少女,自古惹动了多少人的情思,明代高僧法本有诗云:踏遍尘区念已休,归来结社碧峰头。无穷松韵清双耳,不尽云山豁云眸。
