抗战时期,国民政府西迁陪都重庆,名士人杰纷纷汇聚山城,其中不乏骚人墨客。诗友之间往往雅集酬唱,吟声起伏,饮河社应运而生。1940年下半年,章士钊、沈尹黙、江庸、潘伯鹰、许伯建等共同发起创办饮河社,社名取自《庄子》“鼹鼠饮河,不过满腹”之句。社长章士钊,社刊主编潘伯鹰,而许伯建是潘伯鹰的得力助手,奔走约稿,编辑刊物,不遗余力。社址设在渝中区观音岩下张家花园3号。沈尹默在渝期间住渝中区东升
During the war of resistance against Japan, the Kuomintang government moved westward to Chongqing. Celebrity dignitaries gathered in the mountain city, many of whom were poeticists.
