2013年夏季,美国号称“汽车之城”的底特律正式申请破产。该城市破产大致有如下原因:一是产业单一。伴随汽车工业衰退,城市也经受了同样的衰退:二是金融危机的影响。2008年底特律三大汽车公司裁员14万人,2009年克莱斯勒和通用相继宣布破产:三是大量中产阶级,特别是高级人才纷纷离开。曾经有200万人口的城市,现在只剩下70万。日前,我们带领研究团队进行国家社科基金“资源型地区发展战略性新兴产业研究”。由于课题需要,我们自然对底特律申请破产倍感兴趣。而就在此时,我们有了一次到美国与底特律仅一湖之隔芝加哥访问的机会。行程中,我们想:芝加哥与底特律很近,状况大概差不了多少。
In the summer of 2013, the United States formally filed for bankruptcy in Detroit, known as the “City of Cars.” The city bankruptcy generally have the following reasons: First, the industry is single. Cities also experienced the same downturn with the recession in the auto industry: second, the impact of the financial crisis. In 2008, the three major auto companies in Detroit laid off 140,000 people. In 2009, Chrysler and GM announced the bankruptcy one after another. Third, a large number of middle-class people, especially high-level professionals, left in succession. There are only 700,000 cities left in the past with a population of 2 million. Recently, we led the research team to carry out the National Social Science Fund “Research on Strategic Emerging Industries in Resource-based Areas ”. Due to the needs of the subject, we are naturally interested in Detroit filed for bankruptcy. And just then, we had a chance to visit Chicago, just across the lake from Detroit. During the trip, we think: Chicago and Detroit close, the situation probably not much worse.
