中国农业科学院蔬菜花卉研究所建于1958年,现有职工228人,是国家级蔬菜花卉学科的专业科研机构。全所共有5个研究室。是“国家蔬菜作物改良中心”、“国家昌平综合农业工程技术研究开发中心蔬菜花卉分中心”、农业部重点开放实验室“蔬菜遗传与生理实验室”、农业部“蔬菜种质及产品质量监督、检验、测试中心(北京)”、“中国园艺学会”的依托(或挂靠)单位。研究所以应用研究为主,着重解决蔬菜、花卉生产和科学研究中带有普遍意义的重大科技问题,有重点地开展应用基础的研究,取得一批重大科研成果,积极开展科技成果的转化和推广,社会经济效益显著,已初步形成了出成果、出人才、出效益的良性循环。
