陕西省于1970年从东北等地引种,开始进行甜菜露地越冬播种,至今已有十四年的栽培历史。由于生产上的需要,面积逐年扩大,生产管理技术有所改善和提高,使种子单产和总产逐年增加,亩产由200余斤,增加到300斤左右,一般较好的丰产田块可超过500斤。陕西省的甜菜采种主要在关中地区,包括以西安市为中心的谓南、咸阳和宝鸡三地区的大部份县(区),地处谓河两岸,地势平坦、土地肥沃,种植业以粮棉为主。全区气候温和,农作物可一年两熟或两年三熟。年平均气温12～14℃,年降雨量500～750毫米,,t雨量
