In the history of the Chinese translation of William Cooper’s works, Joseph A. Joseph’s “Poems on Isolated Country” and “The Great British Poet William Bell” occupy an important position, but researchers have always ignored the existence of the two languages . Ejoseh quoted a legend and diary of others, leading to the poet’s poem and translated it in seven-character form. He intends to set objective narrative ways to cover up his mission, and ultimately hope to attract readers to accept the religious implication of poetry. In order to combine the missionary intention and literary translation and interpretation, Joseph Yau has highlighted the content of Cooper’s life in line with the Chinese cultural psychology and rewritten many of the original poems. Its translation has a positive value of literary exchange, which is also representative in the missionary’s translation and introduction of western poetry.
