In May 2014, the advertising market as a whole posted over 79.1 billion yuan, an increase of 8% over the same period last year and an increase of 5% from the previous quarter. On a year-on-year basis, pharmaceuticals and health products, media and related products, and computers and accessories accounted for the largest gains in the three major industries, namely 45%, 32% and 28% respectively. The biggest year-on-year drop was in the tobacco and accessories industry, at 33%, followed by finance and real estate at 18% and 15% respectively.
