林虎,1927年生,山东省招远市蚕庄镇人,1938年参加八路军,1945年加入中国共产党。他先后毕业于抗日军政大学一分校、东北航空学校。先后担任八路军战士、班长、排长,华北军区航空处飞行队飞行中队长、空军混成四旅飞行大队长。1951年入朝作战,任志愿军空三师九团副团长、团长。回国后,任中南军区空军司令部领航主任,广州军区空军飞行技术检查主任,航空兵十八师师长,广州军区空军训练部部长,空七军副军长,广州军区空军副司令员,空军学院副院长、院长,中国人民解放军空军副司令员,中将军衔。曾被授予独立自由勋章和解放勋章。1951年10月,空三师在师长袁彬、政委高厚良的率领下,从沈阳进驻安东机场,参加抗美援朝战争。空三师是原陆军二○九师机关组建的,
