廖庆华初中毕业后,回乡跟家人劳动,贫苦的农村生活让他逐渐意识到技能的重要。廖庆华十分想上学,哥姐经多方努力,托关系向银行贷了一千元学费,从此,廖庆华成了第一批德昌职中烹饪班学员。廖庆华珍惜这来之不易的机会,在校期间,勤奋努力,苦学技术,1995年毕业前夕,他与二十余位同学被聘请到云南玉溪蜀风园酒楼,从此开始了他人生新的历程。初次上班月薪为400元,凭着扎实的功底,加上肯动脑,肯吃苦,在工作中不断实践和摸索,在蜀风园打工期间廖庆华的烹饪技术有了明显提高,不久,月工资上升为1000元。
