In this paper,a constant equality-velocity joint,a joint which can transmit motive power while maintaining the equality-velocity rotation of two axes that are not located on a straight line,is discussed from the viewpoint of the technological history of machine elements. If constant equality-velocity universal joints with larger crossing angles than those of conventional joints are developed, various applications of the joints as machine element parts can be expected. In order to identify applicability,we examined the mechanism and structure of constant equality-velocity universal joints with crossing angles ranging from 0 to 75°, assuming that constant equality-velocity universal joints can be applied as compact lightloaded joints. In addition, the degree of constant equality-velocity was tested and its applicability was demonstrated.
