Abstract: Objective To investigate the significance of 99m Tc-TRODAT-1 SPECT dopamine transporter (DAT) imaging in evaluating the severity of Parkinson’s disease (PD). Methods Totally 99m Tc-TRODAT-1 SPECT DAT imaging was performed on 18 healthy volunteers and 23 patients with Parkinson’s disease. The DAT ratio of striatum and cerebellum was determined using the technique of region of interest. PD patients were UPDR and Hoehn-Yahr grading. Results The 99m Tc-TRODAT-1 SPECT DAT imaging in PD patients showed a significant negative correlation with UPDR score, daily activity score and exercise check score. There was significant negative correlation between DAT-specific uptake of striatum and mental activity, behavior, mood score and PD Patient age no correlation. Conclusion 99m Tc-TRODAT-1 SPECT DAT tomography can help assess the severity of PD.
