2. Nutritional Needs in Pure Culture: Since the underground fungus that has been grown in pure culture is very scarce, its nutritional needs are poorly understood. Boulanger (1903) described an unusual mycelium that claimed to be the tuber of Tuber Tuber, but gave no nutritional details. Matruchot (1903) insisted that this is not truffled mycelium. Constantin (1924) claimed to have isolated T. trutife during artificial cultivation, describing the stages of conidia and also the formation of fruiting bodies including ascus and spores.
