Inflammation is one of the major causes of heart disease, stroke, kidney disease and other related complications in people with diabetes. Now Washington University School of Medicine researchers found a possible trigger for chronic inflammation. Too much fat in the diet boosts insulin resistance by stimulating chronic inflammation. But researchers found that when some immune cells no longer produce fatty acids, mice do not develop diabetes and develop chronic inflammation, even when fed on a high-fat diet.
