The United States has promulgated stringent vehicle emission standards in recent years, reducing the allowable content of aromatics in gasoline. This environmental measure forced the automotive industry to focus on the development of new gasoline additives. Recent test drive tests by Ethyl Corporation of the United States have shown that Methylcyclopentadenyl Mallgallese Tricarbonyl (MMT) not only improves fuel octane rating but also reduces pollutant emissions from the vehicle exhaust.
