After Christmas 1972, Liu Jingyi and his wife returned to Sydney. At this moment he heard the good news: China and Australia established diplomatic relations on December 21. Liu Jingyi immediately sprouted his thoughts of wanting to see the mainland and showed it when he wrote letters to his old friends in Hong Kong. After knowing the intention of Liu Jingyi, Premier Zhou called the parties concerned to study the matter and invited an invitation letter from Liao Chengzhi, director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council. After receiving the invitations, Liu Jingyi was very happy and proposed a wish that could be met. “For decades, going back to China is not easy. I think we Liu three generations go back together and bring our son and grandchild. There are some selfish considerations. I am old and sick, and I can not leave many days left. I want to bring my son and grandchildren back to China and let them know and know the old people. ”
