上海租界里由英国人发起的非官方组织——中西莳花会,是一个致力于切磋交流园艺技艺的社团。每年举办春秋两季花展,展期花草植物缤纷多彩,评选奖项,也供游人参观。本文由上海市历史博物馆藏一枚中西莳花会奖牌讲起,叙述中西莳花会的概况、特点及中国人参与该会的情况,可见该会对上海城市建设与社会发展的影响。
An informal group initiated by the British in the Shanghai Concession, the Chinese-Western Flower Society, is a community devoted to exchanging ideas about horticultural skills.
