烟单14是山东省烟台地区农科所1977年选育的,组合是黄早4×莫17,正反交均可,产量基本相同(见封三)。1981—1983年烟单14经全省与全国区域试验,平均增产11.1%,被列为推广品种。1984年山东省推广面积800万亩,连同河南、安徽、江苏等省种植面积达1,000万亩。据烟台地区五年采用其创高产的结果是:小面积创出亩产1,868.2斤的纪录,大面积创出40个百亩方平均亩产1,192.5斤,2个千亩方亩产1,128.7斤,1个万亩方亩产1,086.7斤,最高产的百亩方创出亩产1,520.8斤的纪录。为此得到农牧渔业部的高产栽培二等奖(烟单14占高产面积的80%)。
