先生字桐蓀,江苏省吴江县盛泽鎭人,生于1887年6月13日,1963年10月23日卒于北京,享年76岁。先生为我国教育界和数学界的一位老前辈,早年曾肄业于上海震旦大学,后赴美留学,毕业于康奈尔大学数学系。清末归国,曾先后在福建马尾海军学校,上海南洋大学,安徽高等学校和北京农业专门学校等校授课。后于1920年到当时的清华学校任教,自那时起直到1952年院系调整时先生65岁退休之前,除去1939年到1946年中
Mr. Tong Tong Sun, Wujiang County, Jiangsu Province, Shengze 鎭 people, was born in June 13, 1887, died October 23, 1963 in Beijing, at the age of 76 years. Mr. Miao is a veteran of the Chinese education and maths circles. He started his career at Aurora University in Shanghai in the early years and went to the United States to study in the United States. He graduated from the Department of Mathematics at Cornell University. Returned to the late Qing Dynasty, has taught at the Fujian Mawei naval school, Shanghai Nanyang University, Anhui higher education and Beijing Agricultural College and other schools. He then taught at Tsinghua School at the time in 1920, and until 1952-1946, until he retired at age 65 until 1952
