原全国政协文史馆馆员许宝蘅之子女许容儒、许恪儒两位同志于1987年5月至10月间,先后3次向中国第一历史档案馆捐献明清档案及笔记、著述手稿等共55件(册)、勋章11套(部分实物见封4照片)。依其形式及内容可分为四部分,下面就其内容和价值分别做一简单的介绍。第一部份,明朝档案21件,明档散页5张。明朝档案主要是兵科题行稿,内容反映的主要是崇祯年间明清之间的战争及有关镇压李自成农民起义等问题,另有两件反映了天启年间贵州地区的战争。这些明朝档案无疑使史学研究获得了第一手珍贵的史料。例如:崇祯十三年八月刑科给事中胡周鼎题本中讲到,当时“饿莩流离,僵尸载路,灾异蜂起几遍域中”,有的省份出现了“百姓十分之内逃亡六七”的状况。再加之朝纲腐败,无力抚恤,致使“人情汹汹渐萌不测”,形成农民起义愈扑愈盛的局面。再如:明审讯抓获的清俘虏的供词,反映了皇太极时期统一蒙古
