From a macro point of view, automobile manufacturing has become China’s economic pillar industries. Everyone wants to enter China’s auto market, from multinational giants to local private-owned entrepreneurs. The blowout that China’s automobile market started in 2002 remains strong in 2003 and its momentum will continue into 2004 at least. No one disputes this argument. Data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers show that the output of various types of automobiles in China reached 4,443,700 units in 2003, representing 8.5% of GDP growth in China for the year and 3917546 units for sale, an increase of 32.20% over the same period of last year. At present, there are more than 20 domestic enterprises producing sedans, more than 40 brands and more than 200 kinds of vehicles. By the end of 2003, it has exceeded 2 million vehicles and launched a record number of more than 50 new models. Not only do these numbers stand in stark contrast to the stalled global auto industry, they also underestimated the very optimistic forecasts (around 20%) that experts at the time in early 2003 were at the time. In terms of quantity, China’s auto market has been ranked fourth in the world. The great potential of the Chinese market, coinciding with the strategy adopted by many multinational auto companies to reduce production costs and improve market competitiveness and make a new round of optimal resource allocation around the world, reached a peak in 2003 The peak. Expanding investment and production capacity in China and strengthening competitiveness in China are common tactics for all multinational giants who have invested in China: Volkswagen announced a massive investment plan of 6 billion euros and DaimlerChrysler will jointly invest with Beiqi One billion euros to produce Mercedes cars, heavy trucks and engines, Ford Chairman and CEO Bill Ford in Beijing to make a $ 1 billion investment in China promised to General Motors Chairman and CEO Wagner announced in late 2003 Cadillac domestic and Shanghai GM in 2006 doubling the production capacity of the program. Toyota, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, which used to sell cars in China but did not produce cars in the past, also bet. Of course, the most interesting is Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd., the largest automobile joint venture in China, which is a joint venture between Dongfeng Motor Group and Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., with a registered capital of RMB 16.7 billion. The joint venture is unprecedented in depth and covers the core of Dongfeng Car assets.
