在苏州市东北街的世界名园拙政园与苏州博物馆之间的围墙内,有一棵明代正德年间文征明手植的古紫藤,卧于一只长4m,宽3m的假盆中,迄今已有400多年历史,与拙政园患难与共,风雨同舟,曾被朱德元帅的老师李根源先生誉为“苏州三绝”之一。如今,这棵紫藤依然生机勃勃,苍翠欲滴。其胸径22cm,丛生多枝,躯干盘曲蜿蜒,长500m左右。沿着铁架棚爬满围墙屋面,似走地伏蛟,如昂首巨龙,漫游其上,盘根错节。春天,紫藤放花时节,棚架上,围墙四周,悬紫垂萝,花开万朵,绚丽多姿,阳光掩映下,蜂虫嗡嗡,香气馥郁;仲秋,紫藤棚架果实累累,犹如金铃串串,饶有情趣。
