According to statistics provided by the Statistical Commission of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), major macroeconomic indicators of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries maintained a relatively high growth rate from January to July 2001. However, the rate of economic growth is slightly slower than the same period in 2000. For example, in the first seven months of the year, the gross domestic product of the Commonwealth of Independent States increased by 6% on average, up from 8% in the same period of 2000; the same is true of the growth of gross industrial output and basic investment.
