On 11th July， 1987， the world population reached 5 billion. In memory of the special day， the United Nations decided to observe 11 July as World Population Day and celebrate it annually. So the day of 11th July in 1987 became the first World Population Day. This year we saw the 24th World Population Day and the theme was finalized as Adolescent Pregnancy to raise attention of the issue of adolescent pregnancy and unwed mothers.
