在20世纪的文学作品中,已有很多美国化的亚裔人形象,但东方化的美国人形象却极为罕见。尽管性别问题、种族问题、阶级问题和文化的差异与隔膜复杂地交织在一起,《天国的南方》中的主人公———一位白人女孩朱迪思仍能跨越并成功地活动于两种文化之间。罗杰斯以她个性化的语言描绘了不同文化间的交流与借鉴,预示了当今社会的文化互融现象,表明只有一种语言、一种文化的世界将是一个残缺不全的世界。
In the twentieth century literature, there are many Americanized images of Asians, but the image of orientalized Americans is extremely rare. Despite the complex interplay of gender, racial, class and cultural differences with the diaphragm, Judith, a white girl in the southern kingdom of heaven, still crosses and successfully moves between the two cultures . Rogers in her personal language depicts the exchange and reference of different cultures, which indicates the phenomenon of intercultural integration in today’s society and shows that there is only one language and one cultural world that will be an incomplete world.
