DVD-RAM (a rewritable version of the DVD format) became a hot topic at the annual PC Show in New York in June 1998. When Panasonic showed off its new generation of LF-D101 DVD-RAM drives, Hi-Val, a company that specializes in upgrading tools, demonstrated its own DVD-RAM system that came to the market by the end of August at retail. At the same time, Hbourne Digital Vidao Designs is also a magic weapon to march into the broadcast market with a DVD-RAM authoring system that emphasizes simplicity. A touch-screen interface guides users how to process and encode DVD elements such as video files and UDF formatting. The system will be delivered in the fourth quarter, the price has not yet announced.
