为了保障各季有新鲜番茄供应市场,本市历年来靠秋季露地栽培加以解决,面积曾发展到五百亩。从1977年秋季开始,塑料大棚栽培的番茄,面积一度达到100余亩。但由于病毒病危害,致使露地和大棚栽培的番茄遭到毁灭性的损失。近几年来,本市秋番茄露地栽培的面积明显减少,塑料大棚秋番茄的栽培面积也下降到十几亩,亩产仅20担左右。市农科院园艺所的科技人员与郊区有关技术人员,把生产中存在的问题列为研究任务,经过几年的努力,找到了一套行之有效的塑料大棚防病高产栽培
