FedEx has developed a new Fire Extinguishing System (FSS) that can be installed on long-range wide-bodied aircraft flying over the oceans. By early 2011, FedEx will install the system on its 59 MD-11 freighters, and the company plans to install the system on the newly acquired Boeing 777 freighter.
